I’ve seen a lot of rescene clips popping up on my algorithm lately, and apparently, many of their fans believe they’ve surpassed the likes of BIGBANG, BTS, and aespa. They’re predicting that rescene could sell over 2 million albums in the first week of their upcoming comeback (all bought by domestic fans), and that RAKs and PAKs immediately upon release are practically guaranteed.
The fact that they’ve managed to gain SO MANY ahjussi/uncle fans is clearly doing wonders for their success, and it’s exactly what separates them from other groups right now. Since these fans are much older than the typical K-pop demographic, they have more disposable income and aren’t shy about opening their wallets for the girls. I honestly think it’s great that so many middle aged men are getting introduced to kpop like this.
Going from a mid-tier group to being beloved in Korea, the members having less than a year of trainee experience before debuting, all of it feels like the opposite of what you’d typically expect from a GG nowadays. The past four months have been absolutely dream-like for the group and I’m intrigued to see whether they’ll be able to reach even greater heights in Korea. On a side note, it’s also interesting to see how their meteoric rise in domestic popularity hasn’t translated into much international success. Which made me curious, what has stopped you from stanning Rescene even after they blew up the way they did?
