as someone who really enjoys nugu groups/groups from medium to small companies i really think about this topic
it is very noticeable that with each generation it becomes more difficult for groups that are not from the big 4 to grow especially inside and outside of korea, groups growing out nugudom are really rare nowadays.. (ik rescene is doing insane numbers in korea rn and thats make me really happy and hopeful for others nugu groups!!!) and even when nugu groups get a hit its really hard for them to sustain and create a loyal fanbase (weeekly for ex)
there’s so many things i wanna talk about this topic.. like.. i feel like older groups who are not from the big 3 dont are not really acknowledged in the western community and many people tend to think they were not that famous just bc they were from a small company, I’ve seen this happening with groups like t-ara, afterschool, kara, etc.
i have many thoughts about the erasure of groups from small companies 😵💫 i hope my post didnt sound confusing
