Kpop trends these past few years:
2020/21: bright heavy synths & retro vibes
Some songs i can think of: I can’t stop me twice, ladida everglow, feel good fromis9 tons of the nugu ggs like cherry bullet/rocket punch etc were doing this sound
2022/23: pop rock + band songs & simple easy listening y2k songs… bright bgs back on a rise
This current year I’ve been seeing so much electronic hyperpop esque music mixed w a lil bringing back nostalgia to 2nd gen.
I get music is inspired and no one is original. The most important thing is to add ur own flair to it. Like nayeon abcd is very beyonce coded but she added her own spin. Same with jk solo era (seven was giving jb, 3d JT, standing next to you mj/usher). But it made me think what’s kpop feel distinct musically. I think it’s the bright, cute, quirky music that you don’t really find in the same way elsewhere. And then on the complete opposite end, the huge grand 4th gen noise bg sound, especially early ATEEZ, feels really K-pop to me too. Like all the dramatic drums, chants, brass, etc.
