I’m writing this post in regards to recent events regarding i-dle.
I am a Neverland since 2018 and I have been supporting these girls through it all.They are a self-made group from a non-big4 company who made their breakout ONLY thanks to their talents.Let me remind you,they had less than 300 sales first day, but after they started performing their self-made debut song LATATA they gained lot of recognition and got most of Rookie Of the Year awards. Things continued great afterwards,with many collabs(League of Legends,Queendom) and comebacks but then 2021 and Soojin’s departure came.
No group comes back easily from that.She has been a very popular member and many were saying that i-dle was done for. They took a year long hiatus that every girl took very hard and Miyeon had to celebrate the group anniversary alone.
However,they came back stronger than before,with more members taking part in song production,working harder than ever.They got many awards,PAKS and were one of the strongest candidates for SOTY(Tomboy,Queencard,Nxde were all great hits and Fate got one SOTY award).
Yet somehow,every comeback comes a hate train on social media,mainly coming from fans of big3 groups. They are shading their “music,writing,dancing,LOOKS,outfits”, undermining their achievements and discarding their accomplishments,but most recently they started even spreading LIES AND MISINFORMATION all in favor of i-dle getting undeserved hate.
They are putting words in members’ mouths,taking things out of context,making stuff up. Examples: they are saying Soyeon promised Soojin will come back(never happened),saying Soyeon’s rap is dissing Soojin(it just said that people thought they would never come back from that hiatus but they did WITH A BANG), and now saying that it’s probably the members who kicked Soojin out.
Many times it was said that she left on her own,she has her own career now and as far as we now she is happy and content. They are making imaginary beef knowing full well the damage it could case.
It feels pointless. I see an account with a blue badge say the most nasty lie and it gets 50k likes while they delete the neverland’s replies that are debunking their claims. I am imagining how rotten you must be to enable all the hate and sexist comments all for some “bangers”.
Think about it: would you spread a lie about someone from your community?how would you feel if someone from your work started defaming you in front of everyone and no one wants to hear your explanation?
Just because it’s online people can’t seem to realise they are causing harm to others.
I have lots of hobbies but I am also quite a busy person and it kills me that every time I see my favorite group is making a comeback I can’t come to social media because I will see them getting bullied over LIES and false accusations. At the end of the day I am here for the music and no one can take that from me, but I am losing hope in people and how quickly they can turn evil for some clicks and likes while staying hidden behind pretty girl profile pictures.
