When discussing the success story of BTS and Blackpink and how they had managed to become global phenomenons, multiple factors play in this like music, talent, image, timing, luck, social media, and more. When it comes to both groups, we can see how different their journeys were and the different set of accolades that they had managed to achieve during their decade long careers as a group. Often times, these factors do get brought up due to how they were able to coincide with the rise of both BTS and Blackpink in K-pop. However, I had noticed a minority who believe that any K-pop could have achieved the accolades that BTS and Blackpink had achieved when it comes to international success and becoming important factors to K-pop’s expansion internationally. This had intrigued me as I had begun to think of the possibility of another K-pop act achieving the level of success that BTS and Blackpink currently have if they didn’t get popular internationally.
The people who believe this often list down why they believe that any K-pop act could have gotten popular internationally if BTS and Blackpink did not become the global acts that they are along with both groups attracting huge and dedicated fanbases. The factors I have seen had included things like better talent, better music, lack of promotion, and damaging career scandals that had affected the popularity of that group in K-pop. By looking at these factors, do you believe that any K-pop act could have reached the level of success that BTS and Black had managed to achieve if both groups did not become the global phenomenons that they are now or did BTS and Blackpink just had something different that had made international audiences connect with them in K-pop?
