*I’m a fan of both groups so this is not to put down Txt, who is very successful on their own, this is just a conversation about their popularity, so if you don’t care about popularity you can disregard this post.
Now, both TXT and Cortis have the advantage of being BTS’s younger brother. However, Cortis’s career trajectory so far has been much more explosive. Cortis is the only boy group since 3rd generation to get Melon #1, proving their domestic popularity. Cortis’s Spotify Monthly Listener peak (12.04M) just surpasses TXT (12.03M). Cortis’s most recent comeback first week sales was 2.3 Million, surpassing TXT’s record of 2.2 Million copies in 2023. Not to mention online I see a lot of young fans mentioning how they never got into Kpop except for when Cortis debuted, which really reminded me of what people used to say for BTS. TXT was always a popular group in 4th gen, but they were never considered the number one 4th gen group. So even though both receive the BigHit and BTS hype, what about Cortis (is it their music, concept, members,…) that allows them to gain popularity faster and wider than TXT?
