I’m not rlly a fan of Blackpink, Baemon, TXT, Ateez, Monsta X, and BTS’s physical album designs this year except for Blackpink’s mood light and Baemon’s plush albums. The packaging especially Arirang look so plain and boring.
Like how are ppl spending that much money on merch that doesn’t even look good… To be fair, good merch design actually matters cuz ppl want to display their albums and collections after spending so much on them. Companies srsly need to stop giving idols boring packaging.
And don’t even get me started on LE SSERAFIM’s “Unforgiven” poop stain album 😭. How did anyone at SouMu approve that? At least their packaging improved with Spaghetti and Pureflow Pt.1.
Red Velvet, IVE (starting from Ive Switch era), NMIXX, NewJeans, ILLIT, H2H, KiiiKiii, and ifeye have the best album designs in K-pop imo. Tbh gg album packaging is usually way prettier than bg albums with Blackpink, Baemon and LE SSERAFIM being some of the exceptions.
I’m also not a fan of Enhypen’s lightstick or Baemon’s lightstick. If the merch design is actually beautiful, then it’s worth spending money on but I genuinely don’t see the appeal of paying so much for boring album designs. Even my mom and teacher looked at Blackpink and Baemon’s album designs and said they looked ugly.
