Albums not made for commercial success?-

i was reading an interview chaeyoung did for the grammys and she mentioned she didn’t made the album for commercial success, the album represents her healing journey and personal taste, that got me thinking what other “traditionally successful” kpop artists have gone on the same route?

rm, right place wrong person is another album that fits the category, one of the singles is a beautiful 6 minute experimental track, that album is so special and you can tell his influences and the amount of care that it took to make the album

yve’s projects could fit too, the sound she had with loona compared with her solo stuff is veeeeery different, her latest ep was quite a different sound for kpop but seems true to herself

any others i didn’t think of?
