Has anyone had any experience with small talk in Korea?

Recently, I traveled to the United States and realized that, although cultural differences certainly exist, it feels like people in Korea are especially less likely to engage in small talk.

Even though I was just a tourist in the U.S., people there were genuinely kind to me. They naturally initiated small talk with me, even as a foreigner, and it became such a meaningful and positive experience that I truly appreciated.

When I came back to Korea, I actually found it a bit strange that there was so little small talk or even brief greetings in everyday interactions.

It made me wonder—if I were a foreigner visiting Korea, what kind of experiences would I have with small talk here? And I would also be curious to share thoughts on what most people think about this cultural difference.
