Why don’t survival shows let viewers know the concept ahead of time?

I’m not really a fan of survival shows but I do tune in occasionally – and sometimes I can’t avoid it bc fans get so loud about it. (I still remember when Produce fans were raffling prizes for votes and so many fandoms got pulled into and you really couldn’t escape it).

Anyway I’ve noticed that these shows almost never let their audiences know what sort of concept they’re aiming for. That naturally results in a lot of angsty speculation among viewers and they’ll get into arguments about who is a better fit for the group – all the while having no confirmation of what the group’s concept is in the first place. If the show makes it clear from the beginning about what kind of concept or image they have in mind, wouldn’t it make the selection process less toxic and more fruitful? Wouldn’t it be better for the producers if the voters actually picked the idols that fit their vision? (Or picked more of them, anyway.)
