Why did you think 5050 not blowing up in Korea unlike girl groups from small companies recently.
Disclaimer: I am not trying to stir any comparison or fanwars. These are just my opinion.
I got to know about 5050 just like 70% of the gp, through cupid in 2023, then they had a nasty lawsuit and everything changed. But tbh the next line up made me interested (especially Chanelle and Athena) and wanted to give a try, and honestly songs like SOS, Gravity gave them a strong foothold in the domestic market even after all the boycott. And after their next single pookie went viral, I thought they would be doing solid domestically. Then their next single Ennie Minnie Maine Moe dropped followed by Skittles and honestly those songs were catchy and cute. I loved the aesthetic and creatives for those singlea. But those songs did not chat well.Their singles this year like Bubble or Genie Magic failed to chart in Korea, despite being solid songs.
Now, from what I have seen General public are more accepting towards girl group from smaller or mid sized companies as compared to boy groups from small companies. For eg – StayC, O My girl ,Loona. Also, I have noticed there is a recent surge of interest for gg from small and mid sized companies among gp. For eg – Rescene, Ifeye, Baby don’t cry, Unchild to name a few. Also 5050’s creative team is doing a great job.They upload bts on their yt channel and they also made a travel vlog kast year. The songs are nice. They have some 2.2 million subscribers on yt. And it’s worth to mention the members and funny. Yet, I do not see and viral moments or any songs charting well. Any thoughts?
