Dual citizen – Military service

Hello everyone,

So i’m in a bit of a situation right now and would appreciate anyone with more knowledge in this matter.

Im a US Citizen, born in the US and lived more than majority of my life in the US, including serving in the US military. However, I did live in Korea briefly when my parents got divorced for about 3.5 years until i moved back to the states as a minor.

Anyway, fast forward to today Im being summoned by the Korean military apparently. I just got done with an investigation with the police but on their side it says it’s looking good cause i truly didnt know i was a dual citizen. I barely speak any Korean, and dont intend to live in Korea, nor have any ties besides my mom that lives here. Am i cooked? Will I have to join the Korean military? I also havent been to Korea in 9-10 years so i really didnt know any of this is a thing. My dads Filipino and kinda grew up more closer to that culture.
