I’ve always been obsessed with K-pop what ifs because some of them feel like they could’ve completely changed the timeline.
The big one for me is PINK PUNK. YG originally seemed to be building a larger girl group that was often talked about as their answer to Girls’ Generation, but after years of lineup changes and delays, we ended up with BLACKPINK instead. I’ve always wondered what K-pop would’ve looked like if that original plan had actually happened.
Another one is 6MIX. If JYP had gone ahead with that debut, TWICE as we know them might not even exist.
Then there’s ITZY. Before the final lineup, there was a lot of speculation that Somi or even Lily could end up in the group. It’s weird to think about how different ITZY, NMIXX, and Somi’s career would be today if JYP had shuffled things around differently.
K-pop is full of stories like that where one trainee leaves, one debut gets canceled, or one company changes its mind and suddenly an entirely different future opens up.
