The abysmal amount of ai generated slop in K-pop mvs is honestly such a bummer and it’s gotten to the point where I prefer to watch performance videos instead of mvs because of how frequent it is.
The worst part is that nobody really seems to care anymore. There was definitely quite a bit of push back when ai first started cropping up in K-pop but honestly by this point it’s become so normalised and so common that people have kind of just stopped talking about it as much.
I know South Korea has embraced ai on a massive scale (esp compared to some other places) but honestly I still feel like as international fans we really should push back on it more. I don’t want ai generated content in my K-pop, it is inherently anti art and used cheapen labour costs at the expense real artists. AI art has no soul or value and while I understand it can be a tool I want to see the work of real artists showcasing their human creations and not something spat out by a computer. Maybe I’m preaching to the choir here but it’s honestly so disappointing the scale in which K-pop companies have fully embraced ai. It makes me wonder how many K-pop songs have been written with the help of ai and the thought of that just bums me out even more.
