And it wasn’t just a concert, it was a celebration.
You probably know that Heeseung left the group on march the 10th, and since then the group has faced an immense amount of harassment hidden behind backhanded concern. These past two months they were dragged through the mud. People started to believe they were disbanding soon, they were called untalented, they were called unsuccessful, they thought the six of them couldn’t survive without him.
The group had to face all of that with a company that put no effort in shutting down the noise, left alone to defend themselves against their own fans. We can only imagine what they felt, but that negativity became a powerful fuel because they wanted to prove everyone wrong. The performance they had in Melbourne a couple of days after the announcement was already a clear statement about their determination, but these three days in Seoul showed off a group of six talented men who have taken the stage with sincerity and passion. This isn’t a group that is on the verge of disbanding, this is a group that has stated with words and showed with facts that they want to continue as Enhypen.
All the members gave their 100%, danced with energy, sang with all their hearts. I could literally praise all of them, but I’ll just mention Sunoo who received some of the iconic Heeseung high notes and he nailed them.
And the concerts were extremely beautiful also thanks to engenes. They weren’t just an audience, they supported them, showed them they are enough, that they’re great the way they are. They were loud and energetic and the members were so happy and relieved to see engenes did not turn their backs to them.
I wish this energy could be replicated everywhere. I wish people could cheer for the six that show up on stage, rather than using it as a chance to protest or whatever. They made clear what they expect from fans and I hope they don’t have to repeat it ever again. They’re six now. It’s the six of them who are working hard. It will be the six of them from now on.
