Are 5th gen groups peaking early? Groups are somehow falling in sales in their rookie year.

After the ridiculously large drop off from sales from idid (who are literally rookies) latest album, it made me wonder whether 5th gen groups seem to be peaking early or not. So I looked at the figures for other groups and ngl it sort of seems like a large part of 5th gen is peaking relatively early. This doesn’t mean they’re no longer popular but just they’re not hitting the peaks they were once hitting. For me, it’s kind of weird because I felt like in general, most K-pop groups in 4th and 3rd gen peaked way later than their rookie or 2nd year. People make fun of itzy for example but didn’t they peak like 4 years in.

If you look at a lot of the 5th gen groups, they all seem to be peaking relatively early. I’m not saying they can’t get more popular but it is kind of a weird phenomenon where multiple 5th gen groups are doing worse than their peak or last album. Personally, I feel like during 4th gen, all of the 4th gen groups peaked way later or haven’t peaked at all. The 4th gen groups always seemed to improve cb after cb regardless of the stats and then much later eventually hit a plateau or fell in popularity.

Also, I am not saying all 5th gen groups have peaked but it does seem a considerable amount are.

For the two biggest 5th gen gg, both peaked in their debut year, illit with super real me and Beamon with drip. These are by far their best selling and steamed albums and their daily streams are literally only behind their most recent album despite both being released over 1-2 years ago.

Baemon as a whole seemed to peak in Korea during their debut year then immediately fall off after as they haven’t entered the top 100 ever since drip which was kinda crazy ngl.

Kiof also peaked way too early however ig in their case, there is a bigger reason. But even other ggs like qwer have also seemed to peak early as they no longer even chart well.

Izna ngl obviously peaked at debut. Meovv seems to have peaked with hands up as literally no other release has entered any chart. TripleS no longer enter any chart but ig they sell slightly better each time.

I am not trying to doompost but I can also very well see 404 being kiiikiii peak considering the fandom hasn’t gotten that much bigger and it doesn’t seem as if gp attention on them is like crazy high. They also are a group where they as rookies sold less than half of their debut album. 404 may have truly saved them, we don’t know for sure.

Hearts2hearts is more of a wildcard as whilst rude was big, it was nowhere near magnetic big so there is a good chance that they can surpass those numbers.

Same even with the bgs, riize peaked in terms of sales at 1.9 mil during odyssey then went straight down to 700k next cb, zb1 peaked at debut in terms of everything and bnd also arguably peaked during no genre as that was also when they sold the most and charted the best.

Furthermore, although I might get downvoted for this but personally I can see the same happening to nct wish for what happened to riize in terms of sales in sense that their next comeback won’t sell as well nor chart as well but that is down to whoever is managing wish.

In terms of charting, riize peaked at #90 last cb and haven’t entered the top 20 since love 119 I believe and definitely seemed to hit a peak globally as their global performance has massively dropped as compared to debut.

Tws did pretty good with overdrive and then immediately did poorly with you you comparatively and even then both of them fall short of if I’m s can you be my n let alone plot twist.

Plave also dont seem to be as dominant on the kcharts anymore as they used to.

Considering this, who knows what will happen to cortis next cb.

Furthermore, it seems to be affecting the smaller bgs like Idid, evnne and more. I know idid is a survival bg but they are like the definition of peaking at debut it seems considering the disastrous sales of their recent album compared to the good sales of their debut album.
