Adding to the topic about holding idols accountable.

Now, we’ve been seeing a lot of posts pop up about K-pop fans and their hypocrisy in calling out idols, in that it’s mostly because they want to drag them and that these call outs aren’t really genuine. Which, i admit, is mostly true.

The narrative or opinion that idols don’t have to be a political voice is something I also somewhat agree with. But, let’s talk about the other side of this fan hypocrisy.

If you pay attention, you’ll notice that whoever is making posts talking about how idols don’t need to be responsible for speaking up is usually a fan of an idol who’s currently under scrutiny for said action. Mind you, they were nowhere to be found or probably were even a part of the group that was calling for accountability from another idol. But, when it’s come to their fave, it’s suddenly “they don’t need to speak up”.

If your favorite idol doesn’t need to be an activist, then keep same energy for every single idol and don’t let your stance be due to the fact that it’s your fave that’s being dragged. Wherever you stand with this whole fiasco, it’s your right, but let it be YOUR opinion and your stance. Not something that was influenced by your favourite K-pop star. That’s all.
