I’m honestly shocked seeing KiiiKiii’s latest album WHYKKiii only sell around 13k today 😭 The craziest part is that it’s not even an increase from their previous album Delulu. After all the hype they’ve been getting, I really thought their sales would at least go up this comeback.
For comparison, Hearts2Hearts Lemon Tang sold around 389k in one day. Both groups debuted around the same time, so the difference is actually insane. Like, how are we looking at almost 400k in one day for H2H while KiiiKiii is doing 13k? That’s such a huge gap.
What gets me the most is how different Twitter makes it look. KiiiKiii has so many stans constantly hyping them up, talking about how popular they are, how viral they are, etc. But then you look at the actual sales and it’s just… 😭 Where are all those people when it’s time to buy the album?
I know album sales depend on a lot of things and H2H obviously has a stronger buying fandom right now, but still, I expected KiiiKiii to show some growth after previous album. Staying around the same sales level as Delulu is really surprising.
At this point I’m starting to think Twitter hype really doesn’t mean much when it comes to actual fandom power. You can have thousands of people talking about a group online, but if they aren’t buying albums, the numbers are going to show it.
I just hope Starship doesn’t give up on KiiiKiii or start putting all their focus into another new group. They’re still young and have plenty of time to grow, so I really hope the company actually gives them a chance instead of abandoning them if the numbers aren’t immediately where they want them to be.
