I honestly don’t understand what WakeOne is doing. They have such good groups like ZB1, ALD1, and IZNA. These groups are extremely talented, groups where everyone can sing and dance, and they’re full of visuals. Besides that, since these groups were formed through survival shows, they already have strong fanbases. But WK1 is failing to protect those fanbases and, more importantly, failing to take advantage of them.
Since ZB1 got creative freedom during “Ascend-” era, and the members were involved in almost everything, the album turned out so well. It was the first time I genuinely loved every song on an album. Similar creative freedom should be allowed for ALD1 and IZNA as well, because the members know their fans better than anyone.
Similarly, WK1 really needs to change their creative team because we are in an era where a song needs to at least have a strong hook or a memorable point choreography. Once a song or choreography goes viral on TikTok/Reels, it can bring so much attention to the group and help the song perform better.
Another thing I really don’t understand is why WK1 lacks so much in promoting their groups through variety shows. They should be doing variety content throughout the year, not only during comebacks. And surprisingly, even during comebacks, they don’t seem to utilize variety shows as much as they could.
WK1 really could benefit and earn much more if they properly promoted their groups, gave them better creative freedom, and focused on making songs that suit each group and their fandom.
Note: I’m not mentioning Kep1er because Kep1er is managed by both WakeOne and KLAP Entertainment.
