What separates kpop songs from the rest of the music industry sonically?

a lot of people talk about how there’s a certain sound that kpop has, which is very hard to pinpoint since it also takes from the music genres of the era it’s in, like how a lot of 2nd gen songs feel like a mirror of early 2000’s pop music.

for me, i’ve observed that recent kpop songs mix a few genres in one song more than the average pop song, which makes it more distinct and could be called as uniquely kpop. especially when a song goes viral and gets put in playlists of streaming platforms or in radio stations, pitted against other songs it’s noticeable to some degree.

if we tune out that the songs are in a different language, is there gonna be a distinction with other american pop songs?

this can also extend to kpop adjacent acts like KATSEYE, XG, etc.
