Mark Lee (former NCT member) has launched a New Label under the name Upper Room.
Upper Room (stylized as UPRM Label) is the newly established independent music label and creative identity curated by him for his future endeavors.
Many fans have questioned his absence after the NCT departure. Now he has answered all of those questions by officially launching his label.
While a highly detailed corporate manifesto has not been published, the thinking and imagery behind Upper Room (UPRM Label) focus heavily on artistic rebirth, uncompromised creative freedom, and spiritual/personal growth. Historically and culturally, an upper room is a secluded, elevated space used for intimate gatherings, deep reflection, and major transitions (such as the Last Supper or the gathering of disciples). For Mark Lee, it represents a private, sacred creative sanctuary away from the rigid corporate structure of traditional K-pop agencies. It is a space where he can retreat, self-reflect, and “cook” music on his own terms.
The Teaser and the meaning behind it : The launch teaser featured a white cloth drifting freely from an open window accompanied by the phrase, “The wind carries what is written.” This symbolizes organic expression and letting go of control. Instead of manufactured or heavily restricted music, his new philosophy relies on allowing his art to flow naturally wherever his inspiration (the “wind”) takes it.
Having achieved monumental success within a massive group system, the core philosophy of Upper Room is that “staying great isn’t the same as growing”. The label represents the courage to leave a comfortable peak, take absolute ownership of his identity, and explore uncharted musical territories without restrictions.
Apart from all the meaningful purposes, the label UPRM Label serves as the legal and artistic framework allowing Mark to write, compose, produce, and release music completely free from external corporate oversight.
