The beginning of the end of Kpop? Why Made was the last good album

Made (Big Bang, 2016) was really the last cohesive and well made k-pop album. It’s unfortunate that 1 of the former members could choke and I wouldn’t blink, but I think that album really marked the beginning of the end of kpop as we know it.

“As we know it” is key here, because obviously it still exists but nobody makes cohesive albums anymore. Everything sounds so random.

But I think Made is the kind of album you make once you’re fully comfortable with your identity as individual members and as a group. I could hear it today and know it belongs to a singular group, that level of singularity doesn’t really matter anymore.
