I’m a Nex2y and finally watched nizi project 2 (NEXZ discussion)

For my background: early this year I found out about NEXZ from JYP Game caterers and became a silent fan. I binged watch the nizi project p1 and p2 in anticipation for their comeback Saucin’! I only see reddit posts of people who discussed it 2 years ago during their predebut and debut but I wanna discuss it also for people who became a fan first and then watched their survival show.

For context: I’m talking about the 7-member grp NEXZ, the global boy group from JYPE which was formed from a survival show nizi project 2. Available on youtube!

Okay here it goes

Part 1:
Tomoya and haru caught my attention the whole part 1. If I watched it two years ago without knowing anything from the present, I would bet my life that tomoya will debut. He’s one of the longest jype trainee, talented, and is very comfortable with the camera already. Plus he has a good attitude to the others. For haru, I was just naturally drawn to him. His face is can I say not the typical japanese highschool face? He had so much aura at such a young age. And then for yuki, oh my god he was such a small boi!!!!

The 3 boys that didn’t make it to part 2 or the korea training camp that caught my attention were:

  1. Takato, although he was always in the last places out of the 20, it would’ve been cute for a boy from the countryside going to korea for the first time and be amazed with all the new things.

  2. Yuito, his visual is underrated but he barely got any solo segments. He was only mostly shown in the end of part 1 or the grp sections. I saw that he’s now in a three-boy jpop group with eiji which is one of the contestants as well. Good for him

  3. Taichi, also an underrated visual. I saw after nizi project 2 he also was in another survival show (boys planet ii???) but didnt make the cut and is now openly gay and dating? Might be wrong but good for him

Overall for part 1, I mostly agree with the 12 participants who were included to go to korea. I felt so happy for Taiga and Ken!!

For part 2:

For the first 3 eps it was the individual performance and can I just say how shocked I was with Yu and Yuki’s progress???? Changing yu’s hair was a great move and Yuki is just growing up every episode.

For episode 5: the individual rankings’ top 7 was the 7 members who debuted as NEXZ. Lmao that was a cute foreshadowing

For ep 6 and 7: i’m glad they had this sports event for the boys, they mustve released stress even just for a day.

For eps 8-10 and individual participants thoughts

Sodai, Taiga, and Sean got eliminated before the final stage.

I honestly did not see the vision they saw with Sodai. Like yeah he had ok vocals but he wasnt a good dancer and there’s not much personality that I saw from the whole show. When he smiled, his eyes still looked sad? And since JYP is known for their dances, if only he got a good grasp with his vocals he couldve been defended to be in the team. Also he was always saying he wants to be a singer/known vocalist so maybe he visions more to be a star than to be in a group. Maybe he’s better off as a soloist focused on vocals. I didn’t feel any star quality from him

Taiga, although I was rooting for him, I do saw how the pressure got to him and it maybe made him be stagnant with his growth.

Sean, he had little to no expressions when he danced, and then there wasn’t any wow factor with his vocals and dance that could’ve made him safe from elimination. Like yeah he has star quality and maybe for a variety show representation since he’s from osaka (known for funny people), but yeah i understood the decision to let him go. If only he could speak english and he made that his selling point since he’s wasian, he couldve been included to have 1 english speaker for the grp.

Now for the last episode lineup:

Eiji and Miraku got eliminated.

For eiji, UNPOPULAR opinion but I dont understand the hype!!! He rarely smiled. He didn’t have any star quality for me and i didnt feel like rooting for him while watching. Maybe I’m biased because I already have a bit of attachment to the present lineup. But I kept looking for his expressions during p1, the sports, the between scenes and then performances. He looks too reserved and doesn’t fit the vibe of the group if they want to debut other members in the lineup like Moya, Yuki, Hyui. Those 3 are always smiling and it feels great to watch them. I don’t think eiji will blend well.

Miraku, its unfortunate he didnt get in I was rooting for him even though I knew he’s not in the group. He debuted now with NouerA hopefully he gets to have a video challenge reunion with nexz!! He wouldve fit the group concept and dynamics well. He was just pressured and behind and that affected his performance.

Now for the members who won!!!!!

For tomoya, i hated jyp when he said his leadership was disappointing!!! Thankfully moya defended his grp’s performance. I felt so bad for him for p2 because he was always the leader, expected to be good, while having to think of his own to debut.

For yu, what can he not do??? He cooks, breakdances, respects family, and amazing visuals in a talented body.

Haru is also an amazing idol. He and tomoya were consistent from day 1 and they deserved to be in top 1 and 2 spot.

Ken/So Geon was obviously JYP’s favorite. Sometimes the favoritism is too showing? But he deserved to debut

Hyui/Yuhi, I got the feeling from p1 that they wanted him to debut from the start. His pleasant energy is what JYPE loves lol.

And of course, lastly, Seita. The last member to debut. The youtube comments thankfully have more praises for him than saying that Eiji should’ve debuted. But he was an underdog and was consistently in the top 5-7 from p1. He was also sooo kind and it showed during the show. Since Jyp emphasizes in having a harmonious relationship with members, having a talented and kind kid like Seita is good to be included in the lineup. Jyp even said in one of the interviews that I saw years back that his top priority is an idol with humility and good attitude over anything else. Seita’s kind persona and talent made fans want to root for him.

Overall, it was an intense and emotional ride!! Even though I already knew who’s gonna debut, it still amazes me how far they’ve come. Now I’m listening to their new song Saucin’ on repeat 😅

That’s all!!! STAN NEXZ!!!! stream SAUCIN’!!!
