I wish we could’ve parted in better circumstances.

I’ve just been ruminating about my final thoughts on Heeseung’s exit from ENHYPEN. When it dropped, I immediately took it upon myself to take it without any complaints, I wish him well even though I didn’t understand why it was “sudden”. They were on almost a 3 week break before the announcement, some members have mentioned on weverse that they’ve been thinking about some things.

Albeit vague, and I never knew what they meant then, I had also felt the shift. They were quiet for almost a week and members were rumored to be seen in different parts of the world for vacation. I was happy to hear that since they never take breaks.

And then Heeseung was announced to be leaving to pursue his solo career. I took in the news rationally but I understood that not everyone will take it in as easier as I could have done. However, I can’t help it when I got swayed by posts saying he was forced out, it’s not his decision or it’s the company’s decision.

But I was also still clear on one thing, I will always be with my ENHYPEN, and supporting them will come first. I will never undermine what is “left of them” just because a member chose to go on his own individual path.

But through the weeks it’s become devastatingly clear that this was Heeseung own decision, and because he is an astounding performer and singer, he was backed by the company.

What I couldn’t understand are the people who forcibly making him come back, protesting, demanding, harassing the members, harassing the company’s unsuspecting investors but these fans also seemed to be very protective of Heeseung’s feelings but not if the members’.

And because this is my post about my feelings, I couldn’t help but feel that these ‘engenes’ have become unfair to the 6 members. Boycotting ENHYPEN as a brand but supporting Heeseung’s solo? Where’s the logic in that? The Enhypen is 7 larping when you couldn’t even give back to the 6. Demanding for Heeseung to come back when it was clear his creative direction for himself has strayed away from the group.

In the end, despite my obvious bias on remaing to support my enha and Hee in separate circumstances, I couldn’t help but emphatize as well. Maybe I’m not seeing a whole picture?

But my final thoughts have solidified. Enhypen is 6. They were 7, for years, but now there is 6 of them. Heeseung is no longer of Enhypen. He’s not coming back, and I don’t want him back. He’s releasing something new for the people who will listen and support him. I wish we as fans wouldn’t impose a responsibility in the members of Enhypen or Heeseung to speak up or say something.

This only further amplify how bad parasocial relationships are, not only for the artists but mostly for the fans, people’s mental health have plummeted because of this, I know people joke about psychosis, but yeah that too. And I’m not excluding myself because I too am very affected about this.

To conclude myself, I’ve been listening to NCT Dream’s We Go Up album which was a slightly dedicated album for Mk’s graduation from the group at that time, I just wish Enhypen had done one single after what seemed like a conclusion to a contract negotiation. I wish they could’ve parted with each other in better circumstances. With a proper farewell to the fans and stuff like that. And it’s why I also understand how irresponsible Belift Lab has been about it.

I’m extending my graces to the fans I dont agree with, to the fans I do agree with, to Heeseung, whom I don’t really see myself focusing on. But I stand with Enha, as I’ve always been.
