Okay, no hate at all, but am I the only one who feels kinda clueless (and lowkey annoyed) about K‑pop idols showing up at Formula 1 events?
I get that F1 is huge globally, but the crossover feels random. Like… why are idols in the paddock or on the grid walk when they don’t seem connected to motorsports, aside from a few F1 idol enthusiasts? Sometimes it feels like companies are just throwing idols into every “luxury” or “global” event for clout, even if it doesn’t fit their image.
Fans hype it up even though some of them don’t know a thing about it and don’t even bother to learn; it’s confusing—is this supposed to be brand promotion, networking, or just another “look, we’re global” moment?
F1 feels less like athletics and more like a commercial entertainment product — kinda like WWE. It’s flashy, sponsor‑driven, and built for spectacle rather than adding cultural or athletic value; honestly, what does this sport add to idols or fandoms? It’s not like football or track, where there’s clear athletic prestige.
Not trying to drag anyone, just genuinely wondering if this crossover makes sense or if it’s just another PR move, like “Look, our idols are global, rubbing shoulders with luxury brands and celebrities.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if idols suddenly appeared in person at WWE events, appearing at the centre of the wrestling ring between the wrestlers and the fans, hyping it up even more despite not knowing a single bit about it.
