I actually think that SaWaDiKa is a good comeback track.

A lot of people seem to be divisive about it or are indifferent about the song in regards to the amazing MV (which i havent watched yet). One of the only criticisms that I actually agree with is that it would be cool if she incorporated more of her Thai culture or language into the song (I guess through using Thai classical music and/or having more Thai lines).

But it actually is kinda fire?

It is definitely leagues above Money or Lalisa, might I even say that its marginally better than Rockstar, and it definitely succeeds where FXCK UP THE WORLD failed to. It’s not as good as New Woman but I’ll give it a pass as both songs are going for something different. And what Lisa is going for in this song is blatantly inspired by SLAYYYTER’s recent material. For the unfamiliar, check out her songs “No Comma”, “BROKE BITCH FREE$TYLE”, and “CRANK” and you’ll see the resemblance. The song has pretty obvious traces of the Industrial Hip-hop and Jersey Club production that defined Slayyyter’s WGIA era; while the harsh and loud scream-y chant chorus is quite literally the former’s trademark. Idk how I didn’t see the similarities at first but once others pointed it out I just couldn’t unhear it. Though, as someone whose favorite artist is Slayyyter right now, I genuinely don’t really mind it, even if I know Lisa is gonna get more money and traction out of this one song than Slayyyter could in her entire career, but that’s besides the point.

I genuinely just think SaWaDiKa is so catchy and the production is really punch-y in a way that Lisa’s older rap songs lacked.

I have come to pick up on this sub and others that a lot K-pop fans are somewhat averse to “noise” in songs. But for me that’s honestly the point. It’s loud, it’s abrasive, and it perfectly compliments the message of the song which is that she is simply this rich and popular that other people can’t touch her. And anyone is entitled to hate songs that deliberately just brags about an artist’s wealth but for me personally it’s fun as long as you do it right. Which this song DOES. I do especially love the pre-chorus and how it builds anticipation for the loud chorus. It reminded me of Rockstar in the best way, and honestly it really such a clever way to reheat nachos establish some kind of structural trademark across her title tracks. Idk, I may have just been rambling up to this point but tldr I was actually pleasantly surprised with Lisa’s new song. Is it as good as Slayyyter’s music? Hell no. But will I still play it on loop for the next week? Kinda 🙂
