Just a random thought but aside from Friday Night Funkin and Overwatch, HYBE hasn’t really made Sakura’s otaku side a big part of her marketing. I haven’t seen her do promo work for Sega, Capcom, Nintendo, Crunchyroll, Aniplex, etc. (i.e. commercials, press events). She also hasn’t taken any public photos or met with prominent game devs and mangakas. She also hasn’t attended any major events like the Game Awards, Anime Expo, Pokemon VGC World Championships and Tokyo Game Show as a celeb guest. There’s also the fact that she has done gaming streams less frequently compared to before joining Le Sserafim.
Compare this to other celebs like the Weeknd, Michael B. Jordan, Inde Navarette, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Henry Cavill, who are allowed by their management to both freely express their love for geeky interests and promote them as much as possible. I think it’s a missed opportunity to not let Sakura further publicly express her interests and to promote Sakura and Le Sserafim to a new audience.
