Hello,
After spending a few weeks in Seoul, I’m puzzled. I’ve never seen such a difference in behavior between old & young generations in a capital city.
Thanks to all young & middle aged Koreans who were genuinly nice or even just “normal”. How do you deal & live everyday with such an older generations … ? Are they that mean to you too ?
To add context & some exemples : I wouldnt say it was just rude (which still describe some interactions), I felt deep hatred sometimes.
Outside cityhall station, just after going outside, an old man there came to me, shouted at me some stuff angrily in korean. I said “sorry” and left, he followed me & spit on my shoes..
In Dongmyo, an old lady shopkeeper pushed me out of (the front/outside) of her shop with a hanger & threatened to hit me. I was walking by and just stopped less than 15secs there to see a coat on her front racks.
… Why such behavior ? Do they do that to you too ?
NB : To add, I try to be very respectful or mindfull of the culture, no talking loudly, music, looking at, blowing nose, and so on.
