Have you tried kongguksu? What did you think?

This is Kongguksu

I’m Korean and I’m curious how kongguksu comes across to people who didn’t grow up eating it.

In Korea, it’s one of the foods people start craving when summer arrives. It’s a cold noodle dish served in a creamy broth made from finely ground soybeans, so it feels refreshing but still filling on hot and humid days.

The flavor is usually quite simple and subtle, which I think can be either comforting or a little unfamiliar depending on what you grew up eating.

If you’ve tried it, what was your first impression? Did you find it nutty and refreshing or a little bland or too beany?

And if you haven’t tried it, what do you imagine it tastes like?
