Every big artist has their creepy fans. Enough said. But do you think the overemphasis on fan service that groups do like confessions, calling their fandom their girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband and feeding into par-asocial relationships helps turn really interested fans into obsessive fans and later into Saesangs?
(Don’t hate me, I’m not hating on any group, or victim blaming, I’m just curious what everyone’s thoughts are).
Also a lot of girlfriend or boyfriend fans or whatever can turn really hateful when an idol comes out or is suspected of a relationship. As a westerner that’s so odd to me since many western artists have 2-3 new relationships a year (it feels like) and no one really cares. So I’ve been thinking a lot about what the difference is. So far I feel like the secrecy about relationships, ‘cause now it makes me more curious about who they are dating, and how idols are packaged as possible romantics connection and love to fans could create more intense fantasies, and possible more saesangs(?)
