Do y’all think ILLIT not having any Fluent English Speakers might affect their growth in the long run?

First off, this is NOT a post where u come in the comments and spread negativity. The purpose is just a healthy discussion. Also disclaimer – Correct me if I am wrong at any point. Just a casual music lover.

I am not a fan fan, but I like their softer music. Jellyous is hall of fame. Anyways, this was a sudden thought that crossed my mind. At first I was not sure coz I am not an avid fan so don’t watch the variety and off-music content of theirs. So, I cross-checked and found it that it’s really true. I mean Minju can hold her own and for the group sometimes, but still.

The reason I thought I should post this coz I want to know what everyone thinks. Coz them being the leaders of the 5th Gen and coming from one of the biggest companies, I thought they had one member at least who is fluent in english.

With their amazing growth in such short amount of time, they are bound to grow more and promote extensively in the west. They already hold countless of records under their name. I just hope this factor doesn’t restrict them to achieve much greater heights.

I think every other significant name in the 5th Gen has at least one fluent speaker – Cortis has almost all the members who are fluent, BM has Pharita as the person with the mic, H2H has Stella, BND has Jaehyun, &Team has Maki & Nicholas, ZB1 (former) had Matthew, ZhangHao & Ricky, Meovv has Gawon, Ella & Narin.

Oh yaa! KiiKii also doesn’t have any fluent speakers. There might be more from other companies, but coming back to bigger names.

I just hope this factor doesn’t hinder their growth in the long term. We have seen time and time again, where companies prefer to put out a group with the focus on only one or two markets. Previously it would have been an excuse, but today it doesn’t sound as an excuse even. With how big Kpop is around the world, the market will only grow as the years go by. Just why? Teach the trainees with dedication. I also don’t get these “so-called language teachers” in the companies. They get paid so much, for what? One person can learn a whole new language, that too fluently, in a span of 3-5 years in college. People travel and live in different countries, they learn a new language in a span of 1-2 years. At least let the members who trained for longer period to learn the language properly. One can argue that they don’t have much time for that. But I would say, during trainee period other than the evaluations, there’s only the language classes that runs (they say that).

They are such a lovely group of girls who has the potential to grow exponentially. And I imagine HYBE has that vision in their mind as well. I have seen evidently time and time again, that having a fluent english speaker heavily caters to longetivity when it comes to career as idols. Of course, there are examples of short careers. But, most of em do very well. Experts have always said that, an idol groups’ life is very short lived as compared to artists around the globe. Max to max 10 years. After 7 years, the reality hits from all the fronts. Longetivity has always been the issue in the industry. But, that’s gonna lead to a whole different yap session.

All in all, this was my whole thought. I know people might have talked about it previously, especially within the fandom. But, thought I should post this and gather everyone’s view and opinion on it.
