Yes, chronologically it came way back in 2018 . But the song almost feels like, work done. Nothing more to do. We won.
I listened to all songs of BTS. Its amazing how they explore love from all angles, in some they want to be saved ,they yearn for more, they flirt, they show swagger. Still there is a lot of striving.
But in DNA, the energy is abit … cosmic. Like, all eternity since the universe converged to this one point and thats it. Love won. Game is over. Even the dancers read less as some pursuers, and more like some semi divine beings of love. They are not flirting. They are making a judgement.
In that one shot where V and Jimin are looking at each other, they are not 2 boys in love, they are love themselves. In that one scene where Jin raises his fist, he shows strength and great resolve and commitment.
So it seems, DNA Is their final statement even if BTS the band made many other songs after that. But this one gives the, this is end of the journey vibe. Feels almost satisfying. Like nothing to strive for. I can just go and relax . Mission completed.
