What the hell is going on with this situation lately?

I think the line between admiring idols and just straight-up gooning is getting thinner every month.

Not gonna lie, the recent Karina clip was the moment it really clicked for me, because she looked stunning, obviously, the dress, the presence, everything. But the way the comments and edits exploded was pure gooner energy. Not “she’s beautiful / that silhouette is crazy,” just immediate zoom-ins, body-focused loops, and that specific kind of thirsty that feels less like admiration and more like someone collecting bate.

It’s not just her.

Lily’s stages on the last tour get the exact same treatment. And Kwon Eunbi’s Waterbomb sets from last year (And basically the entire Waterbomb event) basically became permanent goon material for a whole corner of the fandom. The performance itself was bold and intentional, but the consumption of it often isn’t about the stage or the confidence anymore.

I get that idols are attractive. Concepts get sexy, stages get revealing, red carpets get glamorous. Finding someone hot is normal. Liking the body, the movement, the visuals, also normal, but there’s a difference between that and reducing every clip to pure fuel. When the conversation stops being about the person or the performance and becomes just “this is for gooning,” it starts feeling weird. Like the admiration got completely replaced by something else.

Anyway. Just something I’ve been noticing more lately. Anyone else feel the shift?
