I‘ve been rewatching Mixnine lately (i know, idk why i torture myself like that but somehow survival shows are comforting to me) and I noticed how many contestants are just flying under the radar after those shows. And I still wonder how they are doing and if they’re happy. And sometimes it’s unknown trainees too, that are so damn talented (imo) and just got overlooked during or after the show.
Do you guys sometimes think about those contestants too?
For me it’s:
Woo Taewoon
For who doesn’t know: He is Zico’s elder brother and went onto Mixnine. idk why but he was just so charming to me. He’s the one that stuck with me the most. I still listen to his released songs (which there aren’t that many of) and I just wonder what he is doing now. Last thing I know of, is that he was a producer. And sadly there’s just not many updates because the guy was just forgotten after Mixnine. Like many other talented contestants of that show. Damn you YG.
Lee Rubin
Also from Mixnine, he even made it to the debut group, then debuted in 1Team. I actually followed them and their songs were really fun. Sadly they disbanded and Rubin is a tattoo artist now. I‘m just mourning what could’ve been.
Kim Minseok/ Laun (EX ONF)
He chose to not live as a celebrity anymore, which I respect. I just wonder what he is doing now and if he is doing well.
Byeon Seongtae
Now he is actually really unknown. I really liked him on Produce X 101 because he was really funny and had a nice singing voice. I think he is an actor now. But now and again I still think about him despite almost no screentime.
Kim Kookheon
Kookheon really tried. He tried so hard. I found him on Produce X 101 and after that on Mixnine (watched it the first time to see ONF perform lol). This guy is genuinely so talented. It’s just sad that it didn’t work out for him like he deserved. But he has a chicken restaurant now and seems happy, so I’m really happy for him too.
Kim Sihun
He was my one pick on PDX101. He was supposed to be the signal song center too (by contestant pick before the rules changed), so he probably would’ve made X1 in the end if MNET didn’t screw him over. But instead he got eliminated before the final. You guys don’t know how deep this was for me. I voted for him every day, I even imported BDCs debut single from Korea, just because I was such a fan. Imagine how excited I was too see him on Project 7. And then imagine how devastated I was when he barely didn’t make the debut group. He is so hardworking and talented. He just deserved so much more.
There’s probably some more I forgot, but those are the guys that remember the most and can name from the top of my head. (btw I only watched boygroup survival shows so far, so that’s why there’s no girls here)
