Why did the M Countdown MC trio (Sung Hanbin, Jaehyun & Sohee) get so much media attention compared to other music show MCs?

I’ve been wondering about this for a while.

When Sung Hanbin, Jaehyun, and Sohee were announced as M Countdown MCs, it felt like every K-pop news account covered it. Big Twitter/X accounts like Kpop Charts and About Music posted about their appointment, and when they stepped down, those accounts covered it again.

But I’ve noticed they don’t seem to do the same for other music show MC changes. For example, when Music Bank, Music Core, Inkigayo, or even the recent M Countdown MC lineup changed, many of those big accounts didn’t post about it at all.

Was this trio just unusually popular? Was it because they represented three of the biggest rookie groups at the time, or did Mnet promote them more than other MCs? Their chemistry also seemed to be loved by fans, so I’m wondering if that played a role too.

I’m curious if there’s a specific reason why this MC lineup received so much more attention than most other music show MCs.
