ok so for context theres a variety show where txt raises a baby and theres this one clip here where Yeonjun calls said baby 섹시 [sexy]. obviously the show’s editing and all have a lot of….issues (i wont discuss all that here, thats more of the shows format and the onus isnt on txt) but for some reason THIS is the thing that the cesspool of kpop stan twt cares abt
the clip depicts yeonjun essentially changing the baby (with the rest of txt) and he says “어우 유준이 섹시 한데” which loosely translates to “oh isnt yoojun so coolll” [in a baby voice/adoring kind of way] because he wasnt making much of a fuss when the members changed him. and ppl are dragging him bc this somehow makes him a pedo??
the word 섹시 itself carries a whole other meaning in korea and is typically used as slang and doesnt really directly carry any sexual connotation if not used in that context. its mainly used as a loanword to call something cool/great/charismatic (no im not reaching to the moon to defend my oppa, give it one google search).
ive seen people be so nutbrained as to say “oh but yeonjun knows what sexy means in english so he should refrain from using that word to describe a baby!!” why on earth are you policing how a korean person speaks in KOREAN words 😭the entire show inclusive of the clip aired very comfortably in korea for a whole 3 weeks before it was uploaded onto youtube, dont you guys think that if there was any meaningful controversy it wouldve just been edited out before ever reaching national tv??
dont get me wrong txt arent my glorious dadas who i worship and can do no wrong (theyve had some questionable moments) but for similar groups of their caliber they generally maintain a somewhat clean record and have done what many groups usually dont (supporting gay people, however subtly and acknowledging black music’s impact on kpop). i feel like alot of kpop stans are trying to grasp at straws to find some lame excuse to hate on them. imo atleast its OKK to just dislike a group casually, but stop trying to push the agenda that theyre evil pedophilic demons just to justify baseless hate
