The drink spiking titktok trend getting popular among K-pop boy groups

Every time I think K-pop groups cannot pick up a more tone-deaf trend to promote they manage to surprise me…

So there’s a new trend on tiktok that is genuinely disturbing because it normalises spiking drinks and frames it as a funny prank.

Basically two people sit with drinks on a table and when one of them turns around the other puts something in the drink. They both take a sip of their respective beverage and the “drugged” one pretends to pass out while the others celebrates/parties.

I don’t see any humour in that scenario. Spiking drinks is a huge danger, mainly to young women who want to go out and multiple campaigns have been carried out the governments and police across the world to tryb and prevent that.

We’re constantly being taught how to be safe and protect yourself from spiking, multiple products have been developed and are marketed to us to prevent it, but suddenly K-pop boys find it funny to role play being the criminal drugging someone without their knowledge?

So far the trend has been done by: NTX (now deleted) and Enhypen who still have it up and got almost a million likes for it so unfortunately it’s very likely to be picked up by more groups.

I am honestly surprised there hasn’t been any backlash on the k side considering how big of a problem that is in Korea.

It’s honestly just another thing that made me go “they are still men after all”.

I’m just so defeated realising so many men, even the ones we considered as educated and respectful still find women’s fears and struggles funny, or don’t realise how the things they make jokes about affect women in the real world.
