The Korea Exchange will raise the market capitalization threshold for delisting requirements in the KOSDAQ market from the existing 4 billion won to 15 billion won starting from January.
The Korea Exchange will strengthen the delisting requirements for KOSDAQ. It will also improve the industry-specific special listing system to support KOSDAQ market listings for national core technology industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), energy, and space.
On Jan. 5, the Korea Exchange announced that it will raise the market capitalization threshold for delisting requirements in the KOSDAQ market from the existing 4 billion won (approximately $2.7 million) to 15 billion won starting this month.
Accordingly, if a company’s market capitalization remains below 15 billion won for 30 consecutive trading days, it will be designated as a ‘management stock,’ and if it fails to meet the criteria within a certain period thereafter, the stock will be delisted.
The delisting market capitalization criteria will also be strengthened in phases based on market capitalization and sales in the future. It will rise from 15 billion won this year to 20 billion won in 2027 and 30 billion won in 2028. The sales criteria will be 5 billion won in 2027, 7.5 billion won in 2028, and 10 billion won in 2029.
Furthermore, the Korea Exchange completed amendments to the listing regulation enforcement rules for introducing ‘customized technology special listings’ as a follow-up measure to the KOSDAQ market trust and innovation enhancement plan. The policy is to support rapid growth of nationally important core technology companies by establishing customized technology evaluation criteria that reflect industry-specific characteristics.
For AI, the AI semiconductor design and production sector will focus on evaluating product reliability, safety, and cost competitiveness. In the AI model app development sector, the evaluation will focus on the excellence of collected and possessed data and the excellence of data core and inference algorithms.
