So there is this idol that I was a hundred percent sure had work done, but it was the kind of work where you really couldn’t tell what they had done. You just know that they look different but cannot put your finger on it. Fast forward to today, I am watching this idol in a K-drama and all her features look the same as they did when she first debuted. The only thing that I am certain that changed about her, is her jawline. It became much more defined.
A few months back I noticed another idol was doing an interview with a western publication and her nose was so different it shocked me. I always thought she had this tiny pinched nose, so much so, people have joked that it looks like she can’t breathe, only for her to have a kinda wide nose. Nothing wrong with a wide nose, it’s the kinda nose I have.
But after her, I started to notice a pattern where when idols are in the west, their features seem to change a lot. So it got me thinking, are idols being filtered 24/7? Even on music and variety shows? Because I have spent months believing an idol looked one way, to one day being shocked at their actual appearance.
I saw a post where someone was saying how idols don’t get that much work done after debut and was giving a list of reasons why idols appearances might change so often. The comments were very much like, stop being dululu about your fav, surgery is common and normal in South Korea etc… But I have seen enough idols look completely different in the west or when fans take their own videos and pictures at fan meetings to believe that these idols are being filtered to death, with a dose of heavy makeup. I also do believe they get a little Botox here and there.
