A three-space narrative across a graveyard, a dental clinic, and a stage becomes the defining moment of HYBE’s girl group dynasty
The flames are burning. The wreckage is everywhere. And in the center of it all, 14 women stand unbroken, staring straight ahead with a defiant gaze that says everything will change.
This is the ‘AS ONE’ version concept photo for “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” — the first-ever collaborative digital single between LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, and KATSEYE.
Released on June 10, 2026, across all three groups’ official social media channels, these concept photos aren’t just teasers. They’re a declaration. A moment where three distinct girl groups under HYBE converge to create something unprecedented in K-pop history.

Three Worlds, One Narrative
The concept photos come in two versions that tell opposite stories of the same truth: ‘FACETS’ and ‘AS ONE’.
The FACETS version refers to a gemstone’s facets — its multi-faceted nature. Each team gets their own space, their own identity, their own visual language:
LE SSERAFIM appears against the backdrop of a graveyard at night. Their black styling creates a restrained mood. Even while lying inside a grave, they maintain that signature defiant gaze that defined their entire era from debut to “EASY” to “Perfect Night”.
This is the group that dominated 2023 with “Perfect Night,” then proved they could top their own visuals with the ethereal “Sheer Myrrh” concept for “EASY”. From 1980s-90s hip-hop styling with Louis Vuitton accessories to their bohemian MTV EMAs look, LE SSERAFIM has never stopped reinventing. The group brings 5 members to this collaboration.
ILLIT twists a dental clinic into a playground for teenagers. By pairing kitschy pastel-toned styling with medical instruments, they blur the boundary between reality and unreality.
Since their 2024 debut as the “Cherub” group, ILLIT has been the master of surreal, Y2K-infused aesthetics. Their “Cherish” era outfits and biker girl gang concepts show a group that understands fashion as storytelling. The group brings 4 members to this collaboration.
KATSEYE shows a chic bearing on stage. Their Y2K styling mixes leather, fur, and stud embellishments. The phrase “Cleanliness is next to godliness” creates contrast with the gritty visuals.
This global girl group — formed through HYBE x Geffen Records with Universal Music Group — has already set the blueprint for girl group fashion. Their feisty, feminine aesthetic draws from Devon Aoki, early 2000s Anna Sui, and young Shakira. From their NYLON JAPAN January 2025 cover to FLAUNT Magazine’s 200th issue, KATSEYE proves style is as powerful as sound. The group brings 5 members to this collaboration.

The AS ONE Revolution
Then comes the moment that makes fans stop scrolling.
In the AS ONE version, all three teams are bound into a single aura. LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, and KATSEYE — 14 members total — strike a group pose against burning wreckage.
Even amid collapse and flames, every member looks straight ahead. The stance of the three teams gathers into a single declaration.
This is unprecedented. Labels emphasized this single represents the first official collaboration among the three groups.
The Sound Behind the Spectacle

“ICONIC BY MISTAKE” is categorized as an alternative-pop track.
The music video teaser dropped June 8, 2026, revealing the three teams filling the screen with a mischievous side amid turmoil. Intense beats and sounds were added to create tension.
The full music video was pre-released June 11 at midnight KST, one day before the official single release.
The single itself drops June 12 at 1 p.m. KST (noon Malaysian time, 12 am ET June 12).
But before any of that, the three groups will premiere the song through a live performance on Mnet’s “M COUNTDOWN” on June 11 — their first stage together.
Fashion as Identity Language
What makes this collaboration cinematic isn’t just the concept — it’s how each group’s fashion identity reveals their story.
LE SSERAFIM’s black graveyard styling channels restraint and defiance. This is the group who became Louis Vuitton house ambassadors, bringing high-fashion credibility to every concept.

ILLIT’s pastel dental clinic aesthetic screams teenage rebellion. Their ability to make medical instruments look playful shows a group that understands K-pop’s core: making the strange feel familiar.

KATSEYE’s Y2K stage glamour — leather, fur, studs — proves they’re the global fashion blueprint. Their custom denim bralettes and gold jewelry nod to individual members’ roots while maintaining cohesive group aesthetic.

Together, these three styling languages create a visual narrative that’s richer than any single group could achieve alone.
Fan Culture Driving Global Resonance

The announcement came via Weverse, HYBE’s global superfan platform.
This isn’t accidental. Weverse is where FEARNOT (LE SSERAFIM’s fandom), ILLITFAM (ILLIT’s fandom), and KATSEYE’s fans converge. The collaboration was shared directly to the community that drives these groups’ global success.
Fans are already divided and thrilled. One TikTok called it “the biggest K-pop collab of the year”. Another fan post noted: “Finally, a HYBE girl group collab!”.
The music video teaser sparked reactions ranging from “ICONIC” to “A mess incoming” — the kind of divided fan response that signals massive engagement.
This is fan culture at its most powerful: three fandoms merging energy, voting power, and streaming numbers for one moment.
Creative Direction: Where Music, Visuals, and Performance Unite

What makes “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” stand out isn’t just the collaboration — it’s the complete creative ecosystem.
The concept photos preview identities with distinct colors while showing the single narrative they’ll create together.
The MV teaser shows mischievous energy amid turmoil with intense beats.
The M COUNTDOWN performance will be their first live stage together.
The single releases globally on digital platforms.
This is how modern K-pop works: music, visual aesthetics, and performance unite to create a unique narrative that fans experience across multiple platforms simultaneously.
LE SSERAFIM brings the graveyard defiance. ILLIT brings the dental clinic surrealism. KATSEYE brings the stage glamour. Together, 14 members create something that exists in all three spaces at once.
From Debut to Present: Creative Evolution

LE SSERAFIM debuted in 2022 and completely dominated 2023 with “Perfect Night”. Their journey from debut’s confident energy to “EASY’s” angelic “Sheer Myrrh” concept to “SPAGHETTI’s” neon-spicy “Cheeky Pepper” concept shows constant reinvention.
ILLIT debuted in 2024 as the “Cherub” group. From their initial surreal aesthetics to “Cherish” era to biker girl gang concepts, they’ve shown rapid creative evolution in just two years.
KATSEYE formed through HYBE x Geffen Records and debuted as a global girl group. From their “SIS (Soft Is Strong)” era to NYLON JAPAN and FLAUNT covers, they’ve established fashion credibility alongside musical impact.
“ICONIC BY MISTAKE” represents the culmination of all these eras — three groups at their creative peaks, coming together with 14 members total.
The Shift They Represent

This collaboration signals something bigger than just three groups working together.
LE SSERAFIM is the 1st K-pop group to enter Global Spotify in 2025 with “HOT” at #175 and 1,431M streams.
KATSEYE is setting the blueprint for girl group fashion globally.
ILLIT is the master of surreal Y2K aesthetics that define Gen Z visual language.
Together, they represent the shift from individual group success to collective girl group dominance.
This is the era where K-pop girl groups aren’t just competing — they’re collaborating, cross-pollinating, and creating moments that redefine what’s possible.
What’s Next

The single drops June 12. The MV is already out. The M COUNTDOWN performance will be historic.
But “ICONIC BY MISTAKE” is more than a song. It’s a moment where 14 women from three groups stand together against burning wreckage and declare that K-pop’s future is brighter than ever.
The flames are burning. The wreckage is everywhere. And they’re unbroken.
This is ICONIC. This is by mistake — the beautiful mistake of thinking girl groups couldn’t do this.
This is K-pop’s new dynasty.
