I lowkey like that Japan don’t allow fancams (filming in general) in Concerts.

For context, Japan don’t allow fan-recording in concerts. There are valid reasons to it.

Japan entertainment industry take copyright very seriously, often planning to release high-quality official DVDs and Blu-rays. Making fan-recording a serious violation.

And Japanese fans respect the rules coz they believe it’s better to watch and enjoy the shows rather than filming it the whole time, just to go home and watch it on TV. It’s their belief as well that filming is disrespectful to the artists and their hardwork.

This in-turn encourages more artist and fan interractions and enhancing the fan culture and experience within the venue itself.

That’s also why companies always try to do something different for the Japanese concert venues, which in-turn benefits their DVDs and Blu-ray sales as well.

I often see people getting frustrated about it, where they can’t film their artists during concerts in Japan, especially those who like travelling to different countries to see their artists. For many obvious reasons.

I low-key like it tho. Don’t get me wrong, I feel bad for those who travel to Japan to experience the special stages that their idols prepare, which most-of-the-time they don’t perform in other countries.

But at the same time, those DVDs and Blu-rays are the reason why we have those legendary live stage videos of our fav artists on online platforms, free of cost. Those stage videos that we like to brag about, show to our friends who are new to kpop, and go back to watch it over and over again whenever we miss our favs. To this day, I even go back to those stage videos and enjoy my favs completely owning it.
