Surprised that fourth and fifth gen girl groups are wearing flip flops way more often than before. Is it an Americanization of fasion?

In Korea (where I actually stayed for a year), flip flops (thong sandals) are considered very casual and not that common/popular at all compared to the US or to more warmer countries like Spain, Brazil, India, SE Asia etc. Not to mention, when female idols wear flip flops, those pics usually end up on those foot fetish sites or whatever. So when I started stanning IVE, surprised that most of the members wear flip flops even when performing.

I mean their outfits their choice, but are we seeing this change?
