I cannot for the life of me get into Hybe groups

And by ‘Hybe groups’ I mean specifically these groups: BTS, TXT, Enhypen, CORTIS, LE SSERAFIM, and BOYNEXTDOOR.

Something just feels off with these Hybe groups. I don’t know if i can explain it fully without sounding like I’m simply hating for no reason but I’ll try. These reasons may not apply to all of the groups listed btw, and I’m not calling out just a specific group nor idol in any of these, it’s about the way Hybe overall manages, produces, and trains these idols.

I know this may sound ironic given how kpop as a whole has a culture of everything being curated, but Hybe groups just seem extra scripted & like they’re constantly acting compared to groups of other labels.

They also give off “our idols are so relatable and organic and self produced. Oh, don’t mind the fact that they got major companies sponsoring them a month post debut and a long list of globally recognized producers that actually produced 99% of their tracks and we left the 1% for them to contribute to so we have a way to legally credit them to make them seem like real artists and not just idols”.. It’s disingenuous.

Almost every comeback from these groups that was made to be “artistic” and unique genuinely gives me the same feeling of corporations jumping on trends and memes to resonate with the public, they feel like a greedy pretentious attempt at making actual art, etc.

Hybe also debuts trainees that needed an extra year or three in training, a lot of their idols have very basic to weak vocal skills and that puts me off, I’m here for the talent and music first and foremost after all.

These groups also seem like they’re built TO present a certain aesthetic visually rather than the usual route where they’re given a concept/aesthetic to present AFTER being built & trained to be talented well rounded idols. Amongst a multitude of other reasons I can’t get into Hybe groups.

Obviously, this is all mostly Hybe’s fault, I’m not blaming the idols themselves. But there’s still a pattern that I heavily dislike. I hope I’m not the only one that feels this way.
