I remember the days when kpop idols had this pitiful image because they needed to train endlessly without having much free time. This would be especially true for the trainees that still have to go to school. But a thought occurred to me: A lot of 4th-5th gen groups have been getting criticized for poor vocals, most likely because there is a lack of emphasis of vocal training from their company. I do think the training time dedicated for dancing is still there. I rarely hear any criticism against groups for their poor dancing performance, esp the successful ones, so I assume new trainees/idols still spend a lot of time sharpening their dancing skills.
Of course there are some exceptions, but overall it seems like live singing has become more of a secondary thought for a lot of companies? Am I wrong to think this? If not, how else do you think idols would spend time to stand out? Maybe more emphasis on facial expression and acting while performing? Or perhaps they just have it easier than before?
