1. Vocal: S-tier, undeniable
2. Dance: Mostly relies on heels dance + sexy dance in a very “fleshy”/sensual way, pretty one-dimensional. She doesn’t challenge herself with other genres like Hiphop, Waacking, Popping, etc.
3. Rap: This aspect is super overrated because even though she placed 3rd on Unpretty Rapstar 2, she mostly sang more than rapped + all her tracks were features. After the show, Hyolyn literally never released a full rap song. If she wants to rap? She just invites someone else to feature instead.
4. Visual: International fans overhype this category massively. Compared to other tan/dark-skinned idols, Hyolyn’s visual is very average/ordinary. She’s never made it into TC Candler’s “Most Beautiful Faces in the World” list or become a brand ambassador for high-fashion luxury brands (while other tan/dark-skinned idols like Kai, Hwasa, Jennie, Lisa, Minnie, Soyeon, Gawon, Natty, etc. constantly attend international fashion weeks + sign luxury brand deals). She’s also the only one who innocently asked the question: “Does visual get points?” while serving as a mentor on Boys Planet 2.
5. Concept: From her solo debut until now, Hyolyn’s concepts have been extremely one-note with the exact same formula: summer + bodysuit/bikini + twerk + high heels (even her September 2025 release “Shotty” still had to include… twerk). She never experiments with other concepts like hiphop, masculine, rock, metal, dark, gothic, futuristic, etc. If she ever wants to “try something new,” she just disguises a travel vlog as an MV like “You and I” (released July 2025) with basically zero-budget production. As a result, none of Hyolyn’s solo releases have ever made a real impact. The only exception is Queendom 2.
6. Leadership skill: Hyolyn herself has admitted she received a lot of criticism for her leadership during SISTAR’s active years. She has never appeared on any “Best Leaders” lists from Gen 2 to Gen 5.
7. Credits: 45–50 song credits, but the resulting products leave almost no lasting impression.
- Solo career: No major impact, tickets canceled in Vietnam (September 2025), concert venues only 800–3000 capacity.
