There has always been a hierarchy in the Korean entertainment space, which I think went like Film Actors > TV Actors > Singers/Artists > Idols > Comedians. It was quite visible during awards ceremonies where actors would not react to idols performance or there was less response during Variety categories.
Actors have always considered themselves better than everyone else, but I think they started to change during the later half of 3rd gen and start of 4th gen when Kpop become global and Idols starts to earn much more money, more than actors.
Idols starts to have Global recognition with Millions of album sales, Huge world tours / Stadium shows, Luxury Brand Deals and then being major presence in Fashion shows, Performing in festivals like Coachella and Lolla. With now they are earning a lot more.
I think newer gen actors are also quite humble and not that stuck up on hierarchy thing which older actors are still are not moving from. Also lots of Idols turns actors are doing great which is actually helping both sides to come on same platforms some times.
I still then they are still not there yet in the sense of respect they deserve from K netizens or do you think they are at that point?
