I didn’t watch Boys Planet 2 (only watched a few clips here and there) but Anxin, Sangwon and Sanghyeon caught my attention because of their visuals. I had pretty high expectations for their music since I love Kep1er and ZB1’s discography but unfortunately, their music just isn’t hitting for me.
When they released Formula, I was so disappointed. It sounds like an NCT reject song and the song structure is so messy. The lyrics are also questionable because what do you mean “turn up, go, slay, ayy”. They also do so much talk-singing in this song.
Freak Alarm was not it for a debut song and the other songs on Euphoria sound so outdated and generic. No School Tomorrow and Unbreakable Beast are pretty mediocre too. OMG! is boring and Born Dire is noisy for the sake of being noisy. Welcome Home is literally the only song I actually like from them.
Another thing that bothers me is how they keep changing concepts every comeback. They debuted with a generic bg concept, then went for a school concept and now a beast concept. Like can they please pick a direction and stick to it for once.
Honestly, this seems to be a problem with other Wakeone groups too. Idk who’s in charge of their creative direction but they seriously need to find better creative teams. The members have potential but the music just isn’t doing them justice.
