Hey, so if any more experienced Sones could help me out, I’d be very grateful. I was trying to make a little video about the most awarded girl groups, and most of their stats are pretty easy to figure out, but SNSD’s win count seems to be incredibly contentious? Basically there’s 3 different numbers I keep seeing/have come up with
The most common numbers people give for how many wins SNSD have gotten up to this point are either 98 or 100
98 is the number you’re going to get if you just go through and add up what’s listed on most articles or wikis. Now, these sources usually list I Got A Boy as having 6 wins, 3 from M Countdown and 3 from Music Core, however a lot of people seem to agree it actually has 8. I’ve seen it said that the two extra wins are from this one now unknown music show from 2012-2013, Music Triangle, where IGAB won twice. it’s hard to find information on it, especially in English, and these wins aren’t listed in most sources, but i’m definitely inclined to believe they’re real because I’ve seen multiple Sones mention them
Okay, so problem solved right? SNSD have 100 wins. Famously so actually. They were the first girl group to ever hit that milestone. People nowadays just forget about two wins that they got on this one defunct music show. Case closed
The thing is, multiple sources claim that they got their 100th win not with their most recent win, but in 2015 with Party earning its 4th win on Music Bank. Party then went on to win three more times. Then Lion Heart went on to win fourteen times. So this would bring SNSD’s all time music show win count to 117. A little off from 100, huh?
Okay, after all that set up, we’ve gotten to the actual question—do SNSD actually have almost 20 undocumented wins, or was the fandom wrong, and their 100th win was actually with Lion Heart’s 14th win?
I don’t really understand how fans could have been so off as I assume their wins were being documented at the time, but if they were right, then where were these 17 other wins from? Is it a similar situation to Music Triangle where they were winning on these tiny music shows that nobody remembers anymore in order to document?
This has been bugging me so badly lol. SNSD are an older group now ofc, and, yes, Kpop didn’t used to be as well documented or structured, but I feel like it shouldn’t be this hard to figure out a definitive win count for one of the most popular girl groups ever. I also can’t find ANY in depth discussion about all of this, so I figured I have to start it myself lol
