When it comes to the reputation of acts under YG Entertainment, a lot of times in tends to be negative on K-pop Reddit forums. Factors like music, controversies, and different images has caused non fans to view YG acts differently compared to other Big 4 groups in K-pop. However, there are times when fans and non-fans acknowledge the impact of acts under YG Entertainment for changing the landscape of K-pop during their generation. For example, Bigbang had just celebrated their 20th anniversary with their newly released single Biiig and is currently on a world tour to celebrate with their fans in attendance. While the song did receive mixed reactions, their grip on the domestic general public had been widely acknowledged and their impact on the industry has been visible amongst idols inside of the industry.
For 2NE1, I think that fans and non-fans had felt bad about their disbandment especially with the way the members had found out which had caused many people inside the K-pop community to feel sorry for them. Many people acknowledge the group being trailblazers of the girl crush concept and had considered them one of the earliest groups to experience some success internationally during K-pop’s second generation. While PSY and Epik High didn’t debut under YG, they did sign with company with their influence and impact being acknowledged in their respective industries by fans and non-fans here on K-pop Reddit. AKMU was also in a category of their own when they were at YG and had managed to become a general public favorite amongst the South Korea general public. Regarding Blackpink, they are a very complicated topic when it comes to their impact, influence, legacy, and cultural impact due to a lot of people not considering the group a rightful representatives for K-pop internationally. Despite Winner and IKON achieving success and popularity in their careers, they tend to be overshadowed by the accolades of their seniors at YG. Treasure and Babymonster are interesting cases as they pretty much dominate with having a dedicated fanbase who buys their albums and attend their concerts with is extremely beneficial for a music act in any industry.
