According to a lot of fans and non-fans, YG acts don’t really have a good reputation on K-pop Reddit forums. Many had cited that music, controversies, and the image of YG acts which had caused many non-fans inside the K-pop community to not really like them. However, Bigbang just recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary as a group with a new single and an ongoing world tour to continue to see fans and celebrate 20 years as a group. While their single Biiig had received mixed reactions on K-pop Reddit forums, many had acknowledged their grip on the domestic general public and how they had changed the landscape in K-pop. I think 2NE1’s disbandment had made both fans, and non-fans feel bad for them especially with how the way the remaining members had found out. While their legacy often does get acknowledged, sometimes it feels like their legacy is only brought up whenever Blackpink is credited for something. While they didn’t debut under YG, Psy and Epik High were signed to the company and had contributed to their respective industries in Korea. I think Winner achieve success and some influence while IKON was successful but never influential during their time at YG. Treasure and Babymonster have things going their way with a supportive fanbase buying their albums and attending their concerts. With Blackpink, they are both successful and influential yet there is still hesitation with acknowledging their impact and legacy in K-pop. Do you guys think that Blackpink’s impact will be acknowledged on K-pop Reddit when they disband or does their global popularity play a part into why non-fans in the community won’t acknowledge them?
